Ryobi Chainsaw Chains
Every Ryobi chainsaw, pole saw and pruning saw sold in Australia runs one of three chain specs. Match the pitch, the gauge and the drive-link count and the chain drops straight onto your bar. We check every order against the saw model before it ships — that is the Guaranteed Fit.
Which chain does your Ryobi take?
- 3/8" low profile, .043" (1.1 mm) gauge — the 18V ONE+ HP 12" (OCS1830BL), the 36V HP top-handle (R36XCHS10), the 10" OCS1825, every 8" pruning saw and pole pruner, the 36V pole saw and the 6" R18PCS110 pruning saw.
- 3/8" low profile, .050" (1.3 mm) gauge — the 36V rear-handle saws (RY36CSX30A 12", RCS36 and RCS36HP 18"), the RCS1935 electric and the RCS3835 and RCS3845 petrol saws.
- .325" low profile, .043" gauge — the 6" Katana pruning saw only.
Two 12" Ryobis take different chains. The 18V HP and the 36V top-handle run .043"; the 36V rear-handle RY36CSX30A runs .050". Check the gauge stamped on your bar before ordering, or send us the model number and we will confirm it.

Ryobi’s own chain vs ours
Ryobi’s RCHT titanium chains, sold through Bunnings, are full-chisel. Alpine LT43 and LT50 are semi-chisel: the rounded cutter corner holds its edge longer in dry, dirty Australian hardwood and is easier to bring back with a 4.0 mm (5/32") round file. Same pitch, same gauge, same drive-link count, so it fits the same bar and sprocket as the RCHT chain it replaces.
Find your size in 20 seconds
Pitch and gauge are stamped on the guide bar near the mount, usually as “3/8 LP” or “3/8 .043”. Drive links are the tangs that sit in the bar groove; count them on the old chain, or read them straight from the table above. If the stamp is worn, our guide to measuring pitch, gauge and drive links walks through it with a ruler, and the identification chart decodes the numbers stamped on the cutters.
Ryobi chain questions
Which chain fits the Ryobi 18V ONE+ HP 12" (OCS1830BL)?
3/8" low profile pitch, .043" gauge, 45 drive links — Alpine LT43-S-45. The same chain fits the 36V HP top-handle R36XCHS10.
Is my 12" Ryobi .043" or .050"?
The 18V ONE+ HP (OCS1830BL) and the 36V top-handle (R36XCHS10) run .043" (1.1 mm). The 36V rear-handle RY36CSX30A runs .050" (1.3 mm). The gauge is stamped on the bar; a .050" chain forced into a .043" bar will not seat, and a .043" chain in a .050" bar will wobble and wear the rails.
Will an Oregon 90PX or 91PX chain fit my Ryobi?
Oregon 90PX is 3/8" LP .043" and 91PX is 3/8" LP .050". Match the gauge to your bar and the drive-link count to the table above and either will fit. Alpine LT43 is the same spec as 90PX; LT50 is the same spec as 91PX.
Why does my 18V chain go blunt so quickly?
Small battery saws spin a narrow-kerf chain fast through dry hardwood, and any contact with soil or bark grit dulls the cutters within minutes. Keep the bar out of the dirt, touch the cutters up with a 4.0 mm file every couple of batteries, and check tension with the snap test. A loose chain cuts crooked and wears the bar rails.
Do you stock the 6" pruning saw and Katana chains?
Yes. The R18PCS110 takes a 3/8" LP .043" 28-link chain and the Katana takes a .325" LP .043" 30-link chain — they are not interchangeable. If either shows as sold out, use the notify option on the product page if it is shown, or email us, and we will let you know when the next batch lands.
