Husqvarna Chainsaw Chains

Replacement chain for Husqvarna chainsaws, battery saws and pole saws — the 120 Mark II, 135, 235, 236 and 240 homeowner saws, the 435 / 440 / 445 / 450 and Rancher range, the 5-series and XP professional saws, the i-series battery saws and the 525P pole saws. Alpine chain is semi-chisel, made to the same pitch, gauge and drive-link count as the Husqvarna loop it replaces (H37, H30, H42 and so on), so it runs on the same bar and sprocket. Every order is checked against your saw model before it ships; that is the Guaranteed Fit.

Which chain does your Husqvarna take?

Husqvarna stamps pitch and gauge on the bar near the mount, in inches, millimetres or both. Match that stamp and your bar length to the groups below.

  • 3/8" low profile, .050" (1.3 mm) gauge — Husqvarna H37 — 120 Mark II, 120e Mark II, 130, 135 Mark II, 235, 236, 240, 340i, the T435 top-handle and the 525P4S pole saw. 45 drive links on a 12" bar, 52 on 14", 56 on 16". Alpine LT50.
  • 3/8" low profile, .043" (1.1 mm) gauge — Husqvarna H38 — 120i battery saw (52 links on the 14" bar). Alpine LT43.
  • .325" pitch, .050" (1.3 mm) gauge — Husqvarna H30 — 141 / 142, 345, 346 XP, 350, 353, 435, 440, 445, 450 (including the e-series II and the 450 Rancher), 543 XP, 545, 550 XP and 550i XP. 56 to 80 links depending on the bar. Alpine EN50.
  • .325" pitch, .058" (1.5 mm) gauge — Husqvarna H21 / H25 — 51 and 55 Rancher, 254 XP / 257, and the 345 / 346 XP / 353 / 445 / 543 XP / 545 / 550 XP when fitted with a 1.5 mm bar. Alpine EN58.
  • .325" pitch, .043" (1.1 mm) narrow kerf — Husqvarna SP21G — 435i, 535i XP, 540i XP, 542i XP and the T535i / T540 XP Mark III / T540i / T542i top-handles. 51 links on 12", 59 on 14", 64 on 16". Alpine EN43.

If the stamp is gone, follow the measuring guide or send us a photo and the model number; we confirm the size before anything ships.

Husqvarna chain by model

One row per saw. Find your model, read the drive-link count for your bar length, then click the model to order; the product page lists every bar length as a variant. Each order is checked against the saw model before it ships — the Guaranteed Fit. Models that appear under two gauges were sold with both; the stamp on your bar decides.

Husqvarna chain questions

Which chain fits a Husqvarna 120 Mark II, 135, 235, 236 or 240?

3/8" low profile, .050" (1.3 mm) gauge: 52 drive links on the 14" bar, 56 on the 16" (the 120 Mark II also runs 45 links on a 12" bar). Alpine LT50-S-52 and LT50-S-56 — the same loop as the Husqvarna H37 and the Oregon 91PX. The 120i battery saw is different: 1.1 mm gauge, Alpine LT43-S-52.

Which chain fits a Husqvarna 455 Rancher?

3/8" pitch, .058" (1.5 mm) gauge: 68 drive links on the 18" bar, 72 on the 20". Alpine PF58-S-68 and PF58-S-72, the equivalent of the Husqvarna H42 and Oregon 73LPX. The 460 Rancher takes the same loops, plus 84 links on a 24" bar.

Is my 435, 440, 445 or 450 .050" or .058"?

Australian-delivered saws normally run the 1.3 mm (.050") H30 chain; some replacement bars are 1.5 mm (.058"). The gauge is stamped on the bar as .050 / 1.3 or .058 / 1.5. Link counts are the same either way (66 on 16", 72 on 18", 80 on 20"), so it is only the gauge you need to confirm: Alpine EN50 for 1.3 mm, EN58 for 1.5 mm.

What do the Husqvarna chain codes mean?

H37 = 3/8" low profile .050" (Alpine LT50). H38 = 3/8" low profile .043" (LT43). H30 = .325" .050" narrow kerf (EN50). H21 and H25 = .325" .058" (EN58). SP21G = .325" .043" narrow kerf for the i-series battery saws (EN43). H42, H46 and H48 = 3/8" .058" (PF58). Match the code on your old chain or the stamp on your bar and the Alpine equivalent drops straight on.

Can I run a Stihl or Oregon chain on a Husqvarna bar?

Yes, if the pitch, gauge and drive-link count match. Oregon 91PX = H37 = Alpine LT50; 90PX = H38 = LT43; 20BPX = H30 = EN50; 21BPX = H25 = EN58; 73LPX = H42 = PF58; 80TXL = SP21G = EN43. Stihl's equivalents are 63 PM3 (LT50), 61 PMM3 (LT43) and 23 RM3 (EN50); Stihl does not make a 3/8" 1.5 mm chain, so on the H42 saws use the Oregon 73LPX or Alpine PF58.

Why do the i-series battery saws use 1.1 mm chain?

A narrow-kerf .325" 1.1 mm chain removes less wood per cut, so the motor draws less current and the battery lasts longer. The bar groove is 1.1 mm, so a standard 1.3 mm chain will not seat. Keep the chain sharp and correctly tensioned (the snap test takes ten seconds); a dull narrow-kerf chain is the fastest way to flatten a battery.
